On Friday, relatively out of nowhere, the streaming platform Twitch banned immensely popular streamer Dr. Disrespect. The streamer’s real name is Guy Beahm, and it is unclear as to where this permanent ban came from.

It was rumored that Beahm’s ban is for some rather serious issues. In an email to Kotaku, a Twitch spokesperson said, “As is our process, we take appropriate action when we have evidence that a streamer has acted in violation of our Community Guidelines or Terms of Service. These apply to all streamers regardless of status or prominence in the community.”

Beahm was the subject of controversy after not being suspended from Twitch for spreading various conspiracy theories regarding COVID-19, when other streamers who did similar things received suspensions. Beahm was also suspended by Twitch back in 2019 for live streaming in a public restroom.

It was announced earlier this year that Beahm and Twitch had agreed to a deal worth an estimated $10 million for Beahm to stream on Twitch exclusively.
