Electronic Art’s EA Play Live 2021: The Future of FPS will occur on July 8, the company recently announced. The presentation will focus on new details around Apex Legends and Battlefield 2042.

The event aired on July 8 at 1 p.m. EST on EA’s YouTube and Twitch pages. EA Play Live 2021: The Future of FPS is the first in a series of EA Play Spotlight events. The events are meant to preview and build hype for the upcoming EA Play Live 2021 on July 22.

EA has hinted that Battlefield 2042 will be discussed at length. First-person shooter games, in general, will also be discussed heavily, including how they will evolve in the future.

No huge announcements or developments are expected for this event. Those will likely come on July 22 with the EA Play Live Showcase.

The event will be hosted by Stella Chung. Chung has been a host and producer for IGN for around two years, focusing especially on first-person shooter titles. She also leads Apex Legends-related news operations for IGN and was featured as an analyst for the 2021 Apex Legends Global Series Championships.

Oskar Gabrielson, the general manager of DICE, will also appear at the event. He has held the title of vice president and general manager for the Swedish studio since 2016.

Dice LA general manager Christian Grass is another featured member. He has served as DICE LA’s general manager since 2017.

Apex Legends game director Chad Grenier will also appear along with co-founder and CEO of Respawn Entertainment, Vince Zampella. Zampella also serves at the helm of DICE LA and previously co-founded Infinity Ward, the studio behind Call of Duty. Respawn is responsible for the Titanfall series, Apex Legends and other successful titles.

This event does not promise any earth-shattering developments but should provide valuable insight for fans of Apex Legends and Battlefield.
