E3 Has Been Canceled For Second Time In Three Years
Both the in-person and digital E3 2022 showcases have been canceled for the second time in three years. Before the pandemic in 2020, the event had taken place every year since 1995.
“E3 will return in 2023 with a reinvigorated showcase that celebrates new and exciting video games and industry innovations,” the Electronic Software Association said in a statement.”We previously announced that E3 would not be held in person in 2022 due to the ongoing health risks surrounding COVID-19. Today, we announce that there will also be no digital E3 showcase in 2022.”
“Instead, we will devote all our energy and resources to delivering a revitalized physical and digital E3 experience next summer,” they added.”We look forward to presenting E3 to fans around the world live from Los Angeles in 2023.”
E3 is widely known as gaming’s most important event of the year. The event normally features appearances from big names like Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo, though, in recent years, some big companies have opted to hold their own events.
A number of events, including a possible Xbox showcase, are still expected to take place during E3 week in June in Los Angeles. E3 joins EA Play Live in canceling their events.
