Art the Clown is bringing his bag of toys to the Fog. Behaviour Interactive has launched the Dead by Daylight: Terrifier chapter on the game’s Steam Public Test Build (PTB), letting PC players try out the horror icon and his nemesis, Sienna Shaw, ahead of the chapter’s full release on Nov. 24.

The Terrifier collaboration is the latest in a long line of horror and pop culture crossovers for the asymmetrical multiplayer game, following the arrival of Springtrap from Five Nights at Freddy’s and a K-pop-inspired killer. Art was first revealed at the end of Behaviour’s Dead by Daylight 10th anniversary celebration and debuted alongside a new trailer.

Art’s power, Bag of Toys, has him pull a random weapon from his sack: a flail, a flamethrower, a firearm, an acid-filled beer bottle or a bike horn. Each weapon comes with its own Mini-Mori, and every hit that lands raises his deadliness, eventually letting him down injured survivors and execute them.

He is also the first killer in Dead by Daylight with expressive emotes, a nod to the silent, mime-like menace that made the character a horror favorite.

Art’s three perks are:

  • Funny Business: Damaging a generator grants a random effect and a brief haste boost.
  • Kill Spree: Once all survivors have reached two hook states and every generator is complete, Art can kill the remaining standing survivors.
  • Laughingstock: Survivors near completed generators become Exhausted and Oblivious.

Sienna Shaw Joins The Survivors

Sienna, the heroine of Terrifier 2 and Terrifier 3, enters the Fog as a new survivor whose backstory centers on her supernatural connection to Art. Her perks are built around protecting teammates and stunning the killer:

  • Best Gift Ever: Dropping items grants powerful passive abilities.
  • Shared Trauma: After taking a protection hit, nearby survivors within 12 meters can recover from Exhausted while running.
  • Valkyrie’s Rage: Being chased earns Sienna an extra-powerful pallet stun.

The chapter also adds Hartshorne Mall, an original, liminal-style shopping mall map rather than a location pulled from the films. Its lore is tied to longtime survivor Dwight Fairfield.

From Short Films To Box Office Hit

Art was created by filmmaker Damien Leone and was first played by Mike Giannelli in the 2008 short The 9th Circle, the 2011 short Terrifier and the 2013 anthology All Hallows’ Eve. David Howard Thornton took over the role in the 2016 feature Terrifier and has played the character through Terrifier 2 and Terrifier 3, with Lauren LaVera starring as Sienna.

The low-budget franchise became a surprise box office success, with Terrifier 3 opening at No. 1 in October 2024, cementing Art as one of modern horror’s most recognizable villains.

The PTB is available now on Steam, while console players will have to wait until the chapter officially launches on Nov. 24.
