After many community complaints, the Il Toro shotgun is finally nerfed. Embark Studios released Arc Raiders patch 1.20.0 on March 17 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.

The Il Toro shotgun is only a green-rarity weapon, but it was doing more damage than it’s supposed to. The shotgun excels at close-range PvP, especially in tight corridors like Stella Montis. Opponents get one-tapped, and when combined with the “Shinya roll” dodge exploit (patched in February), the gun becomes completely broken. The community begged for a fix to this problem for months.

Embark altered almost all aspects of the weapon as well. The pellet damage dropped from 7.5 to 7; the firing rate decreased while the reload time for the weapon greatly increased, increasing by over one second (from 4.3 to 5.7 seconds), which likely is the most impactful change experienced in gameplay. The projectile spread of the weapon during continuous fire was also increased.

There is another major change in the patch as well. Energy clips, which are a craftable item that players were farming and selling for profit, had their price cut down from 1000 coins to only 200 coins. The Energy Clip gold rush has officially come to an end, making players rethink their in-game economy strategies. Two new, smaller additions in the patch include the new Rawhide Outfit cosmetic, two new haircuts, and three bug fixes.

Big things are coming next for Arc Raiders. The game’s biggest content drop, called The Flashpoint update, is coming on March 31, 2026. This update is bringing a new map, a new large-scale ARC enemy, and a new player project. Embark has also confirmed it will be monitoring the Il Toro shotgun post-nerf.
