‘Dead Island 2’ Still In Development, Claims Deep Silver

Dead Island 2 has been development hell for quite some time. After its hilarious announcement trailer back in 2014, the game has suffered multiple delays and studio changes. First, Spec Ops: The Line developer, Yager Development, was working on it before leaving the project, then Sumo Digital was left in charge before they bailed out. Now it’s being developed by Dambuster Studios, the creators of 2016’s Homefront: The Revolution. That last change was announced way back in 2019, and Deep Silver has been tight-lipped on the project.

With little information released to the general public, many have assumed that Dead Island 2 was secretly canceled. However, Deep Silver squashed those claims in a recent Twitter response.

In a conversation between two users, one of them claimed that Dead Island wouldn’t be coming out and to move on to Dying Light, a game made by the developers behind the original Dead Island and its sequel, Riptide. However, Deep Silver chimed in and said, “We wouldn’t be so sure about that!

After the fellow user denied that it couldn’t be true, Deep Silver went further to respond with, “We’re not quite ready to talk about the latest Dead Island just yet, but when we do, you’ll see it here!”

The last game to be released in the Dead Island series was the 2013 game, Dead Island: Riptide.
