‘Halo’ TV Series Premieres To Positive Reviews – But Don’t Expect It To Stay True To Game

The famed Halo videogame turned nine-episode television series has finally debuted on Paramount Plus.

The show follows Halo icon Master Chief, but don’t expect to be bored thinking the storylines have already played out in the game. In translating the game into a series, the characters and world stayed the same, but the show makers didn’t follow the game at all.

“We didn’t look at the game,” Halo showrunner Steven Kane told Variety. “We didn’t talk about the game. We talked about the characters and the world. So I never felt limited by it being a game.”

The series debuted to generally positive reviews, with critics applauding the choice to stray from the game’s storylines and create new ones while also staying true to the iconic aspects of Halo.

Those who want to watch the show can pay the $4.99 per month price for a Paramount Plus subscription, but there is also a special deal for Xbox Game Pass subscribers. The first few episodes are completely free. Microsoft also teamed up with Paramount to offer members a free 30-day trial.

New episodes will be released weekly.
