Samsung Odyssey Neo G9 Gaming Monitor Has Been Released

Samsung has released its new high-end gaming monitor, the Odyssey Neo G9. The product features a 49-inch screen and will retail for $2,499.99.

The Odyssey Neo G9 was first announced by Samsung on July 27, and the product was released on August 9. The Odyssey Neo G9 is the first and only gaming monitor to include a curved Mini LED display, know as Quantum Mini LED. This increases the amount of detail the monitor can show.

Quantum Matrix Technology allows for such stark detail to be possible. “Quantum Matrix Technology, which harnesses enhanced 12-bit gradation for greater control of the light source – the Quantum Mini LEDs makes dark areas darker and bright areas brighter with 2,048 dimming zones, ensuring viewers enjoy the content as it is meant to be seen,” the announcement read. “Quantum HDR 2000 offers a peak brightness of 2,000 nits, with certification received from VDE (Verband Deutscher Elektrotechniker), alongside a static contrast ratio of 1,000,000:1.”

The 49-inch screen’s aspect ratio was also announced to be 32:9. This display boasts Dual Quad High-Definition, a 240Hz refresh rate, and a response time of 1ms. The curvature of the monitor clocks in at 1000R.

Samsung’s upcoming monitor works with Nvidia G-Sync and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro as well. Adaptive sync is also present in the monitor through its DisplayPort 1.4 port. The Odyssey Neo G9 additionally includes a variable refresh rate on HDMI2.1. This allows whatever source the monitor is working from (an Xbox One, for example) to work at the highest possible frame rate.

Samsung’s Odyssey Neo G9 will feature 52 color options and five lighting effects for its’ rear infinity core lighting system. The CoreSync feature will allow players to create custom multiple-color setups for the monitor.

The Samsung Odyssey Neo G9 is currently available for preorder through Best Buy and Amazon. Pre-Orders will also come with a free JBL Quantum One headset, which normally retails for $300.
