A second version of Blade will be spawning into Honkai: Star Rail this summer.

The creators of the 2023 free-to-play RPG gacha game released drip marketing, revealing the new variant of this character, titled “Mortenax Blade.”

Fans can automatically note that Mortenax Blade has an inverted color scheme to regular Blade, now donning red on the outside of his coat and blue on the inside. Furthermore, this new variant wears bandages instead of a shirt.

Mortenax Blade will be a five-star, fire character who follows the path of Nihility. He will also be a support-type that works in tandem with most DPS fighters.

Drip marketing also lets players conclude that the next HSR banner will feature Mortenax Blade and his signature light cone. It also suggests that the new character will be available to play in June.

The most attentive viewers can see that his drip marketing has two phrases in the top-right corner. They are, “May this journey lead us starward. All aboard the Astral Express.”

Seeing how Mortenax Blade is the only version four character with these words in his marketing, many fans are predicting that he will ally himself with the Express crew after the Phantasmoon Games are over.

Players also learned that Mortenax Blade came in first in the Stellaron Hunter Life Skills test and Xianzhou’s Number One Assassin Center Audition. He will also have the same voice actors as his doppelgänger, Blade.

His English voice will be provided by Daman Mills. His Mandarin voice will be provided by Liu Yijia. His Japanese voice will be provided by Miki Shin-ichiro. Finally, his Korean voice will be provided by Kwak Yoon-sang.

For now, we can only guess what this new rendition of Blade’s story will be. Hopefully, we don’t have to wait until June to find out.
