Marcus Lehto, one of the co-creators of the Halo series, is under a new studio called V1 Interactive. He has been working quietly on one of his upcoming projects, Disintegration. This new first-person shooter is a sci-fi game set in what looks like space, as you can see from a short 45-second teaser trailer that was released this week.

“The opportunity to create not only a new game, but this entire studio has been exhilarating,” Lehto said in a statement, according to Gamespot. “It is great to be able to share what this amazing team has been working on, and we can’t wait to introduce this new game that our team is building to the world next month.”

Lehto designed the earlier Halo series that built its foundation of the original games. He was formally the creative director at Bungie Studios, and made the entire Halo Universe. The strong resume he has gives promise for his upcoming game.

“We’re lucky enough to work with someone like Marcus, a gaming icon whose creativity has influenced an entire industry,” said executive vice president and head of Private Division, Michael Worosz, according to Venture Beats. “We’ve been with Marcus and the V1 Interactive team since the studio’s inception and have seen the organization grow its talent base throughout our partnership. As such, we have high confidence in Disintegration, and cannot wait to introduce it as another unique experience that further enhances the Private Division lineup.”

Disintegration is set to be fully revealed on August 19 at the Gamescom Convention at Cologne, Germany.  The event will be hosted by Geoff Keighley, a Canadian gaming journalist. Meanwhile, Halo: Infinite is set to be released sometime next year, likely to be an exclusive for Microsoft‘s upcoming next-gen console, which the company is currently calling Xbox Scarlett.
