Colin Kaepernick Returns In ‘Madden 21’
Colin Kaepernick, the former quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers, is making a comeback to football in the digital world of Madden 21. Announced yesterday, EA has confirmed via social media that the athlete will return to Madden in a free update.
“Colin Kaepernick is one of the top free agents in football and a starting-caliber quarterback. The team at EA SPORTS, along with millions of Madden NFL fans, want to see him back in our game,” reads an official statement on Twitter. “Knowing that our EA Sports experiences are platforms for players to create, we want to make Madden NFL a place that reflects Colin’s Position and talent… We’ve Worked with Colin to make this possible, and we’re excited to bring it tall of you today.”
Kaepernick has been an unsigned, free agent player since he opted out of his contract in 2016, where he started kneeling during the national anthem as a means to protest the way the United States “oppresses black people and people of color.” 2016’s Madden 17 was also the last appearance of the former quarterback.
Madden 21 is currently available for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. A PS5 and Xbox Series X/S version will be available sometime later this year, with current-gen owners able to access the next-gen version for an additional $10.
