Consumer Protection Agency Monitoring CD Projekt Red After ‘Cyberpunk 2077’ Disaster

The Polish Consumer Protection Agency is currently monitoring CD Projekt Red following the months it has taken the developer to fix various issues that plagued Cyberpunk 2077 since its launch. In a report from the website Dziennik Gazeta Prawna, Poland’s Office of Competition and Consumer Protection is looking into the “confusion” surrounding the release of Cyberpunk 2077. A statement made by an agency spokesperson that read:

“We are asking the company for an explanation regarding problems with the game and actions taken by them. We will check how the developer is working on patches or solving issues preventing playing on various consoles, but also what steps [the company] is planning to take regarding people [who requested refunds] and are not happy with their purchase because they can’t play the game on owned hardware, despite assurances by the producer.”

The agency is currently awaiting a response from CD Projekt Red. Depending on how the company answers, CDPR could be facing a fine that would take up 10% of its revenues from its last financial year. However, the report also states that the consumer agency could also suggest that the developer give players who purchased the last generation version of Cyberpunk 2077  a “digital bonus.” What that could entail has not been revealed.
