Ninja Theory‘s critically acclaimed Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice recently received a thorough Xbox optimization, featuring enhanced visuals and next-gen Xbox perks.

Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice was one of the most popular games of 2017. Four years later, the game gets to run with highly enhanced visuals through Microsoft’s ninth-generation gaming hardware. The update offers three graphics modes: ‘Performance,’ ‘Resolution’ and ‘Enriched.’ Among these three options, you can choose your preference of frame rate, resolution or visual fidelity, along with upgraded materials, particles and LOD (Level of Detail). Moreover, the Enriched mode comes with Microsoft’s well-received raytracing technology, pushing the boundaries of realism and intimacy.

Ninja Theory has also added the highly requested chapter select feature in the game. Once you’ve completed the game, you can easily revisit the scenes that haunt you the most and relive that memory.

Whether you own a digital or physical Xbox copy of the game, the update will come without any additional cost. The game is also currently available on Xbox Game Pass as well as Xbox Cloud Gaming.

As for PC version owners, the update for PC is currently under development, but the release date has not been confirmed. There are no plans to bring the update to other platforms so far.

Ninja Theory has also promised that this visual update did not stand in the way of the upcoming Hellblade sequel. “For this update we partnered with QLOC, the company who helped us bring Hellblade to Nintendo Switch,” their blog stated. “They have been hard at work on this latest version for Series X|S so we have been able to focus on our future projects, including Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II.”

Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II was first announced back in 2019 and will launch as an Xbox Series X/S exclusive with Windows 10PCs. It will also join Xbox Game Pass at launch.
