With the release of Pokémon Legends: Z-A‘s DLC, Mega Dimension, around the corner, Nintendo released a look at their first Z Mega Evolution, Mega Lucario Z.

Its reveal trailer, posted by the official Pokémon YouTube channel last week, depicts Mega Lucario Z absolutely demolishing a Mega Lucario in a battle. Both Lucarios launch aura spheres at each other, yet the Mega Lucario Z’s aura sphere pushes through the other aura sphere and knocks the Mega Lucario. Meanwhile, the Mega Lucario Z is unfazed when the opposing aura sphere hits. The trailer ends with the Mega Lucario Z getting ready to battle a Mega Raichu X and a Mega Raichu Y.

These feats should be of no surprise to those who follow Pokémon closely since Z Mega Evolution grants Pokémon a unique power buff; it gives Pokémon a faster rate in using moves, but they also use up Mega Power more quickly. This trade-off makes these Z Mega Evolution Pokémon best-suited for getting quick, overpowering wins, instead of engaging in long-term battles of stamina.

Specifically, Mega Lucario Z pushes his aura abilities to greater levels. Despite both being Fighting- and Steel-type Pokémon, Mega Lucario focuses its aura into sheer destructive attacks, while Mega Lucario Z instead engulfs itself in aura. This gives Mega Lucario Z greater defense, agility, and flexibility, along with new moves. It can extend its aura into a shield or use it for physical attacks by focusing it on specific body parts, such as the fists or legs.

Other evolutions can be discovered in Pokémon Legends: Z-A – Mega Dimension, such as Mega Baxcalibur and Mega Chimecho. The DLC also features an early purchase bonus, titled the “Luxurious Poké Ball Set”, featuring three Fast Balls, three Lure Balls, three Level Balls and three Heavy Balls. The serial code to obtain the set will be available to claim until February 28, and it will remain valid through Tuesday, March 10.

Pokémon Legends: Z-A – Mega Dimension is available for preorder now.
