‘Spider-Man: Miles Morales’ Update Gets Performance Mode With Ray-Tracing

One of the most talked-about features that has arrived with the new generation of consoles is ray-tracing. This powerful rendering tool adds increased lighting quality to games, giving a game much more realistic lighting and adds reflection to in-game surfaces, such as glass windows and water puddles. The downside is that, unless you’re on PC, most console versions will have their game relegated to 30 FPS if they also want their game to reach 4K.

One game that made use of ray-tracing was the big launch game for the PS5, Spider-Man: Miles Morales. The game allowed for two different modes of play, performance and quality mode. The quality mode enabled ray-tracing while running at 4K at 30 FPS, while the performance mode targeted 60 FPS but omitted ray-tracing while running at a dynamic resolution. But, if you still want those fancy lighting effects at 60 FPS but don’t mind a lower resolution, the developer has you covered.

Recently, Insomniac released a new patch for Spider-Man: Miles Morales that adds a new mode to the game. This new performance mode targets 60 FPS and now adds ray-tracing and other enhancements in the game’s quality mode. The catch is that Miles Morales runs at a much lower resolution. Regardless of which mode of play you chose, Miles Morales is still an incredible game that’s worth playing.

Spider-Man: Miles Morales is now available on PS4 and PS5.
