WATCH: Xbox Releases Short Film By Taika Waititi

Xbox has released an odd new short film from Thor: Ragnarok and Jojo Rabbit director Taika Waititi. The video is about a young woman as she takes part in a dream experiment, with her pet cat joining her for comfort. A scientist then uses a device that puts her to sleep. While she dreams, the woman is asked by the scientist to describe what she sees, and a lot of it will be familiar to fans of the Xbox brand of consoles.

She first enters a world remarkably similar to Ori and the Will of the Wisps, with a rabbit wisp taunting her throughout. She then dreams of a talking whale made of energy, which may ring a few bells if you’ve played Sea of Thieves. Finally, she takes a peek through a picket fence, and what she sees is unbelievable. At first, we witness Master Chief walking towards a miniature hologram of a Halo ring. But, in true Waititi style, things get weird in a cartoony way. Master Chief begins acting like a DJ before taking off his helmet to reveal he has a cat head, right before the woman wakes up.

As you can tell, it’s a pretty silly video that has Waititi’s signature cartoon-like surreal humor that he’s become known for. If you’re a fan of Xbox or gaming in general, it’s worth a view.
