On Tuesday, Paramount Pictures finally released a trailer for their upcoming live-action adaption of Sonic the Hedgehog.

SEGA’s mascot is voiced by Ben Schwartz, while his age-old nemesis Dr. Robotnik (also known as Eggman) is played by Jim Carrey. James Marsden plays newcomer Tom Wachowski, Sonic’s newfound best friend, and the hedgehog-and-human duo are seen startling each other, driving together and standing atop a skyscraper as Robotnik prepares to shoot them with missiles.

Sonic the Hedgehog is slated to roll into theaters on Nov. 8. You can watch the trailer below:

Reception to the trailer, both from fans of the games to non-fans, has largely been negative. Of particular disdain is the film’s Sonic redesign, which many on social media have criticized for lacking the character of his traditional designs, citing his awkward physique and teeth. Others have made jokes about Paramount’s Sonic design while some artists have even attempted to “fix” it. Moreover, others have drawn comparisons to Detective Pikachu, another upcoming live-action film that’s more faithful to its source material.
