Andrew Garfield Admits He Lied To Emma Stone About ‘Spiderman’ Role: ‘No One Believes Me Anymore!’
Andrew Garfield had a small quip for a reporter who asked him if fans would get to see him in another iteration of his Spiderman character.
He insisted that he had no news to share, but “no one’s going to believe anything I say ever again,” he joked.
Garfield was forced to lie repeatedly about his involvement in last year’s Spiderman: No Way Home under Marvel’s well-known secrecy policy. He and Toby Maguire reprised their roles of Spiderman, joining current Spiderman Tom Holland in the film. Garfield and Maguire were left out of the press junket.
In January, he even divulged that he lied to former The Amazing Spiderman and The Amazing Spiderman 2 costar Emma Stone about being in the movie on an episode of the Happy Sad Confused podcast.
“And then she saw it,” Garfield said. “She was like, ‘You’re a jerk.’ I didn’t want to tell anyone. I took it super seriously. I told no one.”
