The Official Pokémon YouTube Channel released a trailer announcing remakes for the pioneering games of the entire Pokémon franchise, Pokémon Red and Pokémon Green.

Intercut with footage from the original games, the trailer narrates:

“Some excitement doesn’t fade, no matter how many years pass. When you chose your first partner… When a battle kept you on the edge of your seat… When you whited out… When you confronted a sinister organization… When you challenged your strongest rival… When you encountered a legend… Reexperience the adventure that immersed you then on the Nintendo Switch system.”

Now titled Pokémon FireRed Version and Pokémon LeafGreen Version, these modern remakes will release for the Nintendo Switch as download-exclusive titles. The games will be available for purchase on the Nintendo eShop.

Both games will be compatible with the Nintendo Switch 2, and they will allow players access to the Sevii Islands, where even more Pokémon await. Nintendo’s official online store states that players can “visit the Pokémon Wireless Club to trade, battle, and chat with other players via local wireless!”

The online store, as well as the trailer, clarifies that “each language version is separate and there are no in-game options to change the language. Please verify the language of the game before completing your purchase.” Furthermore, the store notes that the additional games and systems required for multiplayer mode are sold separately.

Additionally, Pokémon Red and Pokémon Green originally received remakes for the Game Boy Advance in 2004, titled Pokémon FireRed Version and Pokémon LeafGreen Version.
