Actress Kristen Bell has been cast to play the voice of Amy Rose in Sonic the Hedgehog 4. This is the latest film from Paramount’s standout video game movie franchise. Longtime fan favorite Amy Rose is expected to have a big role in the upcoming chapter of the Sonic universe. Fans will get to see the film in theatres on March 19, 2027.

Known for her Piko Piko Hammer and her appreciation for Sonic, Amy Rose is an iconic Sonic character introduced in the early 1990s. She was briefly spotted in the post-credits scene of Sonic the Hedgehog 3, but is now set to take on a major role in the next movie.

Bell’s resume is very impressive, with roles in blockbusters like Frozen, Veronica Mars, The Good Place and Gossip Girl.

Voice actor Ben Schwartz, who plays Sonic, shared his excitement for Bell joining the cast on Instagram. “WE HAVE OUR AMY ROSE!!! And I could not be more excited!!! Please welcome the incredible @kristenanniebell to the @sonicmovie family!!!”

The Sonic the Hedgehog film series is among the most successful video game adaptations in Hollywood. The films use live-action performers for some characters, as well as CGI versions of characters from the games, which have drawn in a significant number of series fans for decades and have introduced new audiences to the franchise.

Characters expected to return in the new films include Sonic, voiced by Schwartz; Tails, voiced by Colleen O’Shaughnessy; and Knuckles, voiced by Idris Elba. Also expected to return is Shadow the Hedgehog, voiced by Keanu Reeves, who was introduced in the first film.

Director Jeff Fowler is leading the way with the movie currently in production. With the introduction of Amy Rose, the film might explore new characters and storylines from the Sonic universe.
