Prime Video is looking to turn Playstation’s popular franchise, God of War, into a television series.

The adaptation is headed by The Expanse creators and producers Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby and the Wheel of Time executive producer Rafe Judkins. Fergus and Ostby have Marvel experience as they co-wrote the script for Iron Man, which propelled the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Sony and Playstation will also have a part in producing a made-for-TV adaptation, as they make sure to be involved in any series based on one of their games.

Adapting video games to TV is all the rage right now. Peacock just added Twisted Metal starring Anthony Mackie, HBO will debut The Last of Us featuring performances from Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey, Netflix has rights to Resident Evil and Paramount+ will release Halo.

If a God of War series comes to be, it will join Fallout and Mass Effect on Prime Video.

The popular franchise was launched in 2005 and spans seven games. The storyline surrounds ex-Spartan warrior Kratos after killing his loved ones under the influence of Ares, the Greek God of War. In avenging their deaths, Kratos becomes a God of War himself. The games open with a trilogy as Kratos’ takes on the Greek gods. Beginning in the fourth installment, Kratos moves on to begin a new life in Scandanavia where more trouble and battles are bound to turn up.

The eighth installment, titled God of War: Ragnarok, is set to drop later this year for Playstation 4 and Playstation 5.
