Blizzard Entertainment dropped the announcement trailer for their newest character, the Italian damage hero Vendetta. Revered as “La Lupa,” or “The Wolf,” Vendetta spends her trailer fighting a giant robot in an arena. Internally monologuing, she reveals that she hated being branded as “La Lupa” at first, but she eventually grew to embrace it; her father taught her to utilize fear and rage as weapons against her enemies as a little girl, so if the arena demands a villain, she will give it The Wolf.

A flashback shows a chess piece falling, revealing the members of Blackwatch: Reaper, Cassidy, Moira and Genji. A gunshot is heard, with Vendetta’s father then being seen falling out of a window. This leads players to tie his death to Blackwatch’s Retribution mission in 2018.

The trailer cuts back to the present and depicts Vendetta, now vowing to avenge her father and reclaim everything that was stolen from them, decimating the robot with an earth-shattering slice from her great sword to uproarious applause. It’s safe to say that Vendetta will be joining the pantheon of modern female characters to wield massive swords, alongside Sonya from Heroes of the Storm, Mako from Brawlhalla, Connie from Steven Universe and Absolute Wonder Woman.

More information about Vendetta’s move set, ultimate and kit is yet to be disclosed.

Vendetta will be officially released with the arrival of Season 20, reportedly set to launch on December 9.
