The player count for Marvel Rivals is at an all-time high, and it does not look like the hype will be fading any time soon.
Ever since the superhero shooter game was released on Dec. 6, Marvel Rivals has gained some die-hard fans, and with the game’s recent Season 1 launch, the player count continues to grow. The game has approximately 400,000 concurrent players at almost any given time. In fact, at the time of writing, Marvel Rivals has an all-time peak of 644,269 players on Steam charts. That’s nearly 100,000 more total players than less than one week ago, and that’s likely thanks to the new season launching just last week.
Marvel Rivals Season 1 dropped on Jan. 10 and marks the beginning of the game’s Midnight Features event. This event features characters from The Fantastic Four series, and Marvel fans were positively thrilled to see these heroes back in action and as playable characters. Currently, Mister Fantastic and Invisible Woman are the first of The Fantastic Four that are playable with the new Season 1.
The official Marvel Rivals X account sets the stage for the Season as it posts “Eternal night has fallen over Manhattan and the entire Earth has been affected! The first chapter of the Midnight Features Season Event has arrived! Join the heroes under the veil of darkness to unravel the full picture, complete missions and claim your rewards!”
The story for this season centers around the villainy of Dracula and Doctor Doom as they plunge the city into darkness by tinkering with the moon’s orbit in order to unleash an army of vampiric enemies.
The first chapter of Midnight Features will only be available through Feb. 7, which could be part of the reason why gamers are grinding en masse. Marvel Rivals reminds their players on X to “make sure not to miss the actions and complete all missions to get additional milestone rewards!” Perhaps this is a hint that these “rewards” will be helpful in the next installment of the event.
