Earlier this month at the Six Invitational, an annual professional Rainbow Six Siege tournament, Ubisoft announced what 2026 has in store for the hit first-person shooter.

The Year 11 roadmap showcase kicked off with a trailer depicting the death of Phobos, a former antagonist to Team Rainbow.

Continuing, Ubisoft revealed that Rainbow Six Siege‘s ranked competitive system would receive a major overhaul, titled Ranked 3.0. They exhibited upgrades to ranks and other competitive features, as well as an R6 ShieldGuard, an anti-theft upgrade and more.

Overall, the updates for this new year are said to focus on collaboration, team play and a new social hub.

The show-stopper, however, is the crossover the game will have with Metal Gear Solid; in 2026, Solid Snake, star of the Metal Gear Solid series, will become a playable character in Rainbow Six Siege.

At the Six Invitational, Creative Director Joshua Mills elaborated, “We’re excited to bring the world of Metal Gear Solid series into Rainbow Six Siege with Season 1’s new Redacted event, a limited‐time 4v4 infiltration mode where Snake and Zero lead a team of elite operators to recover stolen data.”

This new addition will debut in season one of Year 11, launching on March 3. David Hayter is reprising his role as Solid Snake, and the character will have a semi-automatic TACIT .45 pistol, with a suppressor for covert missions. Exclusive skins from the franchise will also be available.

Other features coming in season one include: four balancing updates, new maps for Oregon, Coastline and Villa with upgraded visuals, two map Ranked rotations, the end of Dual Front and a limited-time arcade mode where players can compete against their friends online in 1v1 matches.

A loose outline of the remaining seasons to be released throughout the year has also been provided.

In season two, users will be able to stay up-to-date with their favorite competitors through a new in-game e-sports tab. Dokakaebi, an Attacking Operator in the game, will also undergo some revisions.

In season three, a new Defender named Firework will be introduced, along with a counter for shield users. There will also be a new experimental arcade mode supporting 3v3 matches.

In season four, The Grand Larceny returns to Rainbow Six Siege. The Hostage structure will also receive upgrades, and the Operator Mastery tiers will let players use specific Operators.

If the Year 11 roadmap is any indication, 2026 is really shaping up to be “More Siege, More Often.”
