‘Death Stranding’ Trailer Showcases Hideo Kojima’s Bizarre New World, Confirms Release Date
Metal Gear brainchild Hideo Kojima may no longer be working with Konami, but his affinity for telling stories starring tragic heroes appears to be continuing into Death Stranding. On Wednesday, publisher Sony formally announced the anticipated game’s release date through a new trailer, a video that contains all of the weirdness one should expect out of a Kojima Productions joint.
The trailer spans nearly nine minutes and showcases some scenes that are relatively ordinary visualizations, such as showing our lead Sam roam across fields and climb a ladder. Less typical imagery includes his Bridge Baby – a baby carried within a golden container that somehow increases Sam’s environmental awareness – and a squad of undead soldiers standing within a pool of burning water, ready to open fire. It also named the game’s principal voice actors, with Norman Reedus starring as Sam, Mads Mikkelsen as Cliff, Léa Seydoux as Fragile, Margaret Qualley as Mama, Tommie Earl Jenkins as Die-Hardman, Troy Baker as Higgs, and Lindsay Wagner as Amelie, with Guillermo del Toro and Nicolas Winding Refn both making “special” appearances.
Death Stranding will launch on Nov. 8, and it’s currently one of the last known major exclusives belonging to the PlayStation 4.
