Contra Anniversary Collection (Konami)

Grab a sweatband and some ammo because Konami divulged the full list of titles players will find on the upcoming Contra Anniversary Collection. While the release date has not been announced yet, it’s known the Contra anthology will hit the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Steam for $20. In terms of its lineup, series veterans and newcomers alike will find the following ten titles:

  • Contra (Arcade)
  • Contra (NES)
  • Contra (Famicom)
  • Super Contra (Arcade)
  • Super C (NES)
  • Contra III: The Alien Wars (SNES)
  • Super Probotector: Alien Rebels (SNES)
  • Contra: Hard Corps (Sega Genesis)
  • Probotector (Sega Mega Drive)
  • Operation C (Game Boy)

While there is overlap here – there are three versions of the original Contra, after all – every game bears something unique. In terms of historical curios, Hard Corps was the first entry to feature four characters while Operation C was Contra‘s first handheld installment. Moreover, a digital bonus book is included that “provides a comprehensive look in to Contra’s history and beginnings.”

Those who purchase the collection will obtain Japanese versions of some of these games through a free update. Here is the listing of bonus titles Konami is offering, with the Japanese name listed first and the American name listed afterwards in parenthesis:

  • Contra (Arcade)
  • Super Contra: Alien No Gyakushu (Super Contra (Arcade))
  • Super Contra (Super C)
  •  Contra Spirits (Contra III: The Alien Wars)
  • Contra (Operation C)
  • Contra: The Hard Corps (Contra: Hard Corps)
