‘Crash Bandicoot 4’ Brings Tawna Back, Demo Release Date Announced
Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time will see the return of Crash’s old love interest, Tawna… sort of. First introduced in the original Crash Bandicoot, an alternate version of Tawna will be a playable character in the upcoming 4th installment of the classic series. Announced on the latest episode of PlayStation Underground, Crash 4 producer Lou Studdard and writer Mandy Beninov brought new gameplay for Tawna.
Unlike the Damsel-In-Distress in the original, this version of Towna is “a more capable adventurer,” and “all about being an action hero,” according to both Suddard and Beninov. This will mark the first time that she will be playable in the main-line series. Along with the ability to perform standard jumps, this new take on Tawna will also have the ability to wall jump on select platforms and use a grappling hook. Unlike her ex-boyfriend, Tawna will not be able to perform the trademark spin-attack but instead will have a kick move.
While Crash and Coco are still the main focus and played throughout most of It’s About Time, characters like Tawna, Dingodile and Dr. Cortex will be available in optional levels called “Timelines.” These sections will give more context to their appearances through Crash 4, with Tawna acting like “a Guardian Angel being on the sidelines,” according to Studdard.
A demo will be available only to those who pre-order Crash 4: It’s About Time digitally on September 16.
Get ready to Jump and Spin you’re way to victory, as Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time will release on PS4 and Xbox One on October 2.
