It seems like both the original God of War and the first Uncharted game could be getting remakes. Over on the YouTube account of Michael Mumbauer, a former head at Sony San Diego Studios, talked with God of War and Twisted Metal creator David Jaffe, as part of the podcast, Gabbin+Games. In it, Mumbauer and Jaffe discussed their past experiences and history at Sony San Diego Studios. During the discussion, Mumbauer mentioned that his job changed as he started to oversee remasters and remakes.

When asked by Jaffe to elaborate more on this, Mumbauer responded, “Remakes and remasters were the things I was chasing after. So that’s why the dev team was built. What I can tell you is that’s what I was chasing because I believed that there was value in doing something like a remake of God of War at the visual fidelity of today. Or, a remake of Uncharted 1.”

While Mumbauer is no longer employed at Sony, the team he oversaw still exists, consisting of over 200 employees, and they are working on a new project. Mumbauer said he is clueless as to what that project is.

The next installment in the God of War series is set to arrive in 2021 for the PS5. The last installment in the Uncharted series, Uncharted: Lost Legacy, was released on August 22, 2017.
