Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aimé is well-known amongst fans of the company; he’s one of its biggest spokesmen, and he recently discussed their plans for this year’s E3 in an interview with Fox News.

NINTENDO’S REGGIE FILS-AIMÉ EXPECTS A “BIG E3”

Nintendo Everything has a clip of the interview. Therein, Fils-Aimé discusses various Nintendo-related topics, including the positive reception to the Switch. His statement regarding E3 can be seen below:

“E3 is always a big time for Nintendo. We look at each E3 as a unique opportunity to tell our story. And we’re gonna have a big E3 this year. We’re going to be showcasing a variety of games. We will have experiences for… consumers will be able to attend the show for the very first time. So I’m not gonna tell you all of the various games and all of our little secrets for E3, but I can tell you that E3 is going to be a major opportunity for us to showcase not only Nintendo Switch, but also content coming to Nintendo 3DS.”

Fils-Aimé, affectionately dubbed “the Regginator” by fans, has a longstanding tradition of attending E3. In fact, his demonstration of the Wii Balance Board in 2007’s show resulted in the now infamous line, “My body is ready.”

As for his statement, while I don’t believe Nintendo’s internal teams are still invested in the 3DS, we know the handheld still has a year or so left. A mainline Fire Emblem will launch for the platform next month, and a Pikmin side-scroller is slated for this year. Thus, Nintendo is still likely collaborating with third-parties to develop content for the 3DS. However, the Switch can be expected to highlight their presentation, given that it just launched.

So, what announcements can we expect? I have a few predictions, but I’ll refrain from sharing them. Instead, I’ll sit by my monitor in a melancholy slump, as I lack the skill to win a trip to E3.

What are you hoping to see at E3?
