EA has announced that Respawn Entertainment will be working on three new Star Wars video games. One game will be a sequel to the critically acclaimed Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, another will be a first-person shooter and one will be a strategy game.

Respawn Entertainment, known for its work on the massively popular battle royal game Apex Legends, as well as developing the Fallen Order, will be overseeing all three of the projects.

In a press release, EA confirmed that they plan to work with Lucasfilm to continue to make games set in the Star Wars universe.

“We are excited to continue working with the superbly talented developers at Respawn,” said Vice President of Lucasfilm Games Douglas Reilly. “They have demonstrated excellence in telling epic Star Wars stories along with best-in-class gameplay across different genres and we are looking forward to bringing more amazing experiences to the galaxy far, far away.”

This announcement came as a surprise after there was speculation that EA might have lost the Star Wars license after Aspyr and Ubisoft announced that they would be working on Star Wars video games. EA had been the only publisher working on Star Wars titles since 2013, but it seems like Disney possibly plans to expand the franchise with titles from multiple publishers.

It seems like the deal might have been a recent development as Bit Reactor, one of the dev teams working on one of the projects, was established just last week.

Work on all three of the titles has already begun, but no release dates have been given.
