Fans had mixed reactions to the reveal, with some fans saying that Charles Martinet, the voice actor for Mario in the games, should have voiced him in the movie.
Imagine DMCAing fan works to preserve the integrity of your intellectual property, and then casting Chris Pratt as Super Mario.

I find it kinda sad that Chris Pratt will probably get paid so much more for voicing Mario ONCE than Charles Martinet did in his entire 25-year tenure as him in every game/toy/promotion/etc.

Other fans were excited for the possibilities that the actors bring to the table, especially Black, who has deep experience in comedic films.
Learning that Jack Black is Bowser was way more fulfilling than any Smash reveal
