The Street Fighter III protagonist is returning nearly three decades after his debut in 1997. Alex is now officially here in Street Fighter 6 as the third Year 3 DLC character. The grappler from New York will be reimagined for the modern era.
Alex was the protagonist of Street Fighter III: New Generation, which featured more fresh faces than familiar ones. Alex gained popularity among fans who had longed to see him return after carrying that game’s story.
Alex will automatically be unlocked for players with the Year 3 Character Pass or Year 3 Ultimate Pass. If you don’t have one of those, he is available for purchase for 350 Fighter Coins. He is playable across all platforms, including PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, PC via Steam and Nintendo Switch 2.
Alex comes with some very impressive tools in his bag. He has introduced the Prowler Stance, which offers 11 follow-up options based on the opponent’s actions, giving him plenty of room to mix things up. He will be bringing more than ten throws to the ring, as well as bringing back old favorites such as the Flash Chop and Power Bomb.
Two new outfits are launching with Alex, the first of which features him as “Dark Devil of the ring,” buying into that villain-type role. The second outfit is a copy of his Street Fighter III look, which appeals to the nostalgic fans. Dee Jay and Elena also received their Outfit 4 costumes alongside Alex.
The character will also be coming with a special anthem of his own. Legendary Anime Rock Band, JAM Project (responsible for many anime theme songs, including One Punch Man and Super Robot Wars) has performed “Go! Alex! Hope is Born!” for this occasion. This song can now be found on both Spotify and Apple Music.
Ingrid is looking to round out the Year 3 roster in late Spring, being the final DLC character. Street Fighter 6 is showing no signs of slowing down, with over six million units sold and strong support from Capcom.
