Blizzard Entertainment’s series of blunders may be coming to an end with Diablo II: Resurrected, which the company announced will be coming to PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4/5 and Xbox One + Series X/S later in 2021.

The remake boasts several new features sure to excite newcomer and long-time Lords of Destruction alike. Like Command & Conquer Remastered this summer, Resurrected will feature revamped, HD graphics as well as a choice to play in the original visual style. On their website, Blizzard has a side-by-side comparison between styles. I honestly prefer the now super-sharp original graphics, but the new style still looks impressive.

Blizzard also announced that there are plans for full cross-play, meaning if you play on PC at home but use your Switch on the subway your progression will carry over. Cross-progression, however, is expected to be added to the game in the future and may not be available during its initial release.

Resurrection, unsurprising, will also include all DLC content from the original Diablo II. Players can also look forward to a modern user-interface as well as a “revamped” ladder system for Diablo II‘s most hardcore players. Co-op will allow eight players to dungeon-crawl simultaneously for the first time in the Diablo series.

Players can opt-in to Blizzard’s upcoming beta for Diablo II: Resurrected from the game’s website.
