Baldur’s Gate 3 is getting its eighth patch soon. Stress testing has begun, and long-awaited features will be added along with other improvements.
Stress testing for Patch 8 of Baldur’s Gate 3 has begun for Xbox Series X|S, PS5 and PC. The game’s developer, Larian, released the patch slowly and carefully with this stress test to “catch things [in the patch] before they can become an issue.” Participants of the stress test have had access to the patch since Jan. 28, and so far, the reception has been very positive.
Patch 8 was detailed by Larian back in November of last year, so many fans have been anticipating the exciting improvements and additions to the game with the update. Along with their announcement for Patch 8, Larian promised new features that fans have been hoping for, such as new camera features, cross-play, and 12 new subclasses.

One feature in particular that has long been in development is the introduction of split-screen co-op play to the Xbox Series S console. This is a feature that was supposed to accompany the game along with its release back in 2023. Larian had difficulty getting the feature to operate on this particular console, likely because of its lower-grade specs compared to the Series X and PS5 models. Because of this problem, Baldur’s Gate 3 was released on the Xbox Series S with no split-screen feature; that is up until now with Patch 8 underway.
At this time, there is no official release for Patch 8, but in the past week, Larian has already been making improvements to the patch while it’s still in its stress test stage, which is a good indicator that we are inching closer to a full-on release. Baldur’s Gate 3 players can still register for a chance to participate in the stress test while it’s ongoing on Larian’s website.
