Dave Bautista is a former wrestler turned actor who’s best known for playing Drax in Marvel Studios’ Guardians of the Galaxy series. However, one role’s he’s had his eye on is Marcus Fenix, the protagonist of Microsoft’s Gears of War series. A film based on the Gears games is currently in development at Universal Studios, and it’d be a dream role for Bautista, who – by his own admission – has “tried everything” to procure the part.

Rod Fergusson from The Coalition, the studio in charge of the Gears universe, believes Bautista would be an excellent choice for the role, although he’s uninvolved in the casting decisions. “Dave is great,” Fergusson said to IGN. “I think Dave would be awesome in that role. Unfortunately, I don’t have casting control of what we do with that and whether we have the character that he would play.” Nevertheless, the Gears spokesperson was thrilled an actor of Bautista’s caliber was eager to play a part in the film.
