Everything Announced At Sony’s May 30 State Of Play: Concord, God of War Ragnarök & More
PlayStation hosted a State of Play event today. It featured 40 minutes of announcements, including updates on previously announced titles and brand-new games. Here is everything shown.
Concord
Concord is a new 5 v 5 fps from developer Firewalk. Announced back in May of last year, players will take control of the members of the Northstar, a crew of Freegunners taking on jobs across the Concord galaxy. The gameplay trailer showed off five playable characters players will get to use and showed glimpses of others. Introduced were Vale, a sniper; Lennox, a pistol-wielding gunslinger; Haymar, wielding a crossbow; Star Child, who’s equipped with a grenade launcher; and the mech character 1-Off, who has a wind gun. The game will launch on PS5 on August 23 this year, with a pre-launch beta in July.
God of War Ragnarök
Sony announced that God of War Ragnarök will be released for PC on September 19. The game will include the Valhalla DLC, unlocked frame rates, and support for ultrawide monitors.
Dynasty Warriors: Origins
The latest entry in the long-running Dynasty Warriors franchise was revealed during the State of Play. The last mainline Dynasty Warriors game, Dynasty Warriors 9, was released in 2018 and received negative reviews from fans and critics. The game is set to launch on PS5 in 2024.
Infinity Nikki
Described as an “Open World x Dress-Up Adventure,” Infinity Nikki is the fifth installment in the Nikki Up2U series. Players will be granted special skills to freely explore the open world by dressing up in different suits. You can then collect materials and designs to make more suits to add to your wardrobe. A test for the game is planned for Q3 of this year. The game will launch on PS5, PS4 and PC.
Ballad of Antara
Ballad of Antara is a new third-person adventure game with soul-like elements. Developed by TipsWorks, it will launch on PS5 in 2025.
Skydance’s Behemoth
Announced all the way back in 2022, Behemoth is the latest VR game from Skydance Interactive, known for its previous VR title, The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinner. In Behemoth, you play as a diseased warrior lost in the Forsaken Lands. Skydance’s Behemoth launches on PS VR2, Meta Quest and Steam in October this year.
Alien: Rogue Incursion
Another VR title, Alien: Rogue Incursion, brings the beloved franchise to VR headsets this year’s holiday season. Featuring a brand-new story set in the Alien universe, developer Survios set out to make a truly immersive and frightening experience for Alien fans. The game launches on PS VR2, Meta Quest 3 and Steam.
Marvel Rivals
After a successful alpha test earlier this year, developer NetEase showed off a new gameplay trailer for the PvP game and announced a closed beta coming in July for PS5. The 6 v 6 game will launch with 19 playable characters. Marvel Rivals will launch on PS5, Xbox and PC. There is no set release date yet.
Where Winds Meet
He was previously revealed as a PC exclusive in 2022, where Winds Meet is an open-world action-adventure RPG set in ancient China’s tumultuous Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms era. Described as a “groundbreaking oriental wuxia open world,” the game will launch on both PC and PS5. No release date has been given yet. As a young martial artist, the player will explore a war-torn land rife with territorial conflict, political intrigue, power struggles and epic battles.
Until Dawn Remaster
A new trailer and release date were given for the remaster of Supermassive Games’ hit title Until Dawn. Sony previously announced the game’s coming to PC and PS5 in January. The remaster includes improved animation and environments powered by Unreal Engine 5. The game will launch in the Fall of this year.
Path of Exile 2
The long-awaited sequel to Path of Exile got a new gameplay trailer at the State of Play. The trailer confirmed that the game would include couch co-op, cross-play and cross-progression. The game will enter early access in late 2024. Path of Exile 2 will be available on PC, PS5 and Xbox.
Silent Hill 2 Remake
During the State of Play, the remake of Silent Hill 2 received a new trailer and release date. Immediately following the event, Konami held a “Silent Hill Transmission,” which provided additional details about the franchise’s state. The game maintains the story of the original title but has completely redone gameplay and visuals. Silent Hill 2 is set to launch on October 8 for PS5 and PC.
Monster Hunter Wilds
Revealed at The Game Awards last year, Monster Hunter Wilds is the latest installment in Capcom’s beloved series. Following up on Monster Hunter Rise and its expansion Sunbreak, the new gameplay trailer for Wilds introduces new monsters, a look at a sand biome map and new gameplay for the 14 weapon types with brand-new attacks. Mounts make their return from Rise with the new Seikrets replacing Palimutes. Players who link save data from the world will receive special bonus items in the game. While there’s still no release, the game is projected to be released sometime in 2025. Monster Hunter Wilds will launch on PS5, PC and Xbox.
Astro Bot
Sony revealed a new Astro Bot title from first-party studio Team Asobi. In this 3D platformer, players take control of Astro Bot, which journeys through a beautiful world that references classic PlayStation franchises. Keen-eyed viewers can spot references to PaRappa the Rapper, God of War, Journey and more in the trailer. This is the fifth title from Team Asobi to feature Astro Bot. The previous was Astro’s Playroom, which was installed with the PS5. Astro Bot launches on PS5 on September 6, later this year.
