The Overwatch League (OWL) will once again be in full swing on February 8.

The game is a first person shooter, with two teams of six battling for the top spot in each match. Overwatch was in the midst of controversies during its development and release in 2017. However, the game also did manage to acquire 7,000,000 online users within its first month of operation.

With a tweaking of league rules, New York City will be the first city of the year to host this league’s games. In the league, there are a total of 20 teams from six different countries. This year, the league instated home/away matches for teams. This way, teams will be able to increase their fan bases, and provide fans with a more accessible way to watch their favorite sports teams play. In years prior, every event was hosted in Burbank, California.  In New York City, the local team is the New York Excelsior. Their matches will be played in the Hammerstein Ballroom.

The event will be hosted by Chris Puckett; former e-broadcaster, live-streamer, and resident of New York City.

Fans will also be able to enjoy various activities that are hosted across the two day event.

For the first day, February 7, there will be a ‘Student Night’ at 6:30 p.m. and a ‘Pre-Party’ for New York fans starting at 9:00 p.m.

On the final night, February 8, there will be a ‘Karaoke and Bar’ night at 9:30 p.m.

During the morning after the two day event wraps up, February 9, there will be a ‘Bingo & Brunch’ at 9:30 a.m.

Tickets for both days start at $85. For more information regarding ticket and event sales, click here.
