‘Star Wars Outlaws’ Release Date Shrouded In Mystery After Disney Parks Blog Error
On January 2, Disney Parks uploaded a blog post that spoke on upcoming events occurring at their parks around the world. The article covered upcoming entertainment projects from the company including the upcoming Star Wars Outlaws game, with the original version of the post stating that the game will be released in “late 2024.”
This surprising announcement had led to hype among fans of George Lucas’ space epic for the upcoming title until later in the day the post was updated for the game’s release date to be within “2024,” much to the confusion of fans.
Originally announced in 2021 by Ubisoft, the game had increased in popularity after being showcased in an Xbox showcase in June of last year. In the game, you play as Kay Vess attempts to break into her freedom with her companion Nix. The game takes place in the time-space between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi and will be a side story of the original franchise.
Although the release date has changed, online spectators have begun to speculate that the game might be released earlier this year, though both Disney and Ubisoft have confirmed nothing regarding a timetable for Outlaws. The more open world for the game has brought many fans of the franchise excited to move around in an open-world environment based on the Star Wars universe.
The game is currently being developed by Swedish game studio Massive Entertainment, a subsidiary of Ubisoft. They are the same company that has worked on the past three Tom Clancy’s The Division games alongside the successful 2023 title: Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, based off of James Cameron’s movie series of the same name.
Outlaws is being developed to release PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X/S using the studio’s in-house engine, Snowdrop.
