Capcom has been busy lately, with the news of their Resident Evil 4 remake, and the initial Street Fighter 6 logo change, and now, they’ve revealed some new details about the characters that will be available to players.

Here are all the details about the five confirmed characters for Street Fighter 6.

RyuStreet Fighter alums will be glad to know that the beloved Ryu will be returning to reprise his role within the franchise. However, this version of Ryu seems to be aged up. Perhaps taking on a mentor role to some of the newer characters within the game. His bio reads: “Ever training, this martial artist seeks true strength. Well-mannered and sincere, Ryu travels the globe in search of worthy opponents. Having overcome the Satsui no Hado, he now seeks yet greater heights.”

Luke – A new character from Street Fighter 5, Luke comes back to expand on his story in the sequel, his bio is simple, only telling us that he is, “a contractor for a PMC, Luke uses his elite military background to teach mixed martial arts. His days off are spent eating junk food, playing video games, and fighting, but make no mistake—Luke plays to win.”

Jamie – This is the first new character that Capcom has revealed. Jamie is one of the more visually unique characters in the game, within his aesthetic and fighting style. His bio also hints at a unique backstory. ‘This self-styled Chinatown peacekeeper aspires to the example set by Yun and Yang, the Twin Dragons. An expert dancer, Jamie places justice and friendship above all else, defending his town with martial skill.”

Chun-Li – Easily one of the most recognizable video game characters of all time, Chun-Li also seems to take on a mentor role similar to Ryu in the latest installment of Street Fighter. Her bio tells of a more settled character, “A former high-kicking ICPO agent, Chun-Li looks after Li-Fen, a victim of the Black Moon Incident. With Shadaloo sundered, she now runs kung fu classes, and has become a well-loved member of the local community.”

Guile – Finally, one of the most fun and iconic characters of the franchise. The military man has come back to reprise his role and has not lost a step. “A US Air Force pilot who fights for his country, Guile succeeded in dismantling Shadaloo and avenging his friend Charlie. He enjoys living the family man life, but new battlefields await him.’ It remains to be seen whether or not Guile will have an expanded story in the latest game.

These new character reveals come after an infamous leak earlier this month unveiling 22 characters within the roster. Capcom has since planned to move forward with the official releases despite the leaks.

Street Fighter 6 is set to release sometime in 2023.
