The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has been hailed as one of the greatest games of all time, racking in several game of the year awards back in 2015. After the release of its two DLC chapters, the world believed that the tale of Garrett of Rivia had come to an end. While we won’t be getting a new installment of The Witcher series for some time, fans will be getting a new version of The Witcher 3 for PS5 and Xbox Series X.

Announced on the official Witcher website, the critically acclaimed RPG from Polish developers CD Project Red will be coming to next-gen consoles, with improved visuals and technical performance. Other new implementations to the game include the use of Ray-Tracing and vastly shorter load times. “Developed to take advantage of the most powerful gaming hardware, the next-gen edition of the game will feature a range of visual and technical improvements — including ray tracing and faster loading times — across the base game, both expansions, and all extra content,” reads the statement fro CD Project Red.

The best part is that owners of the current versions will receive it free of charge, regardless if you have the Game of the Year version or the base game. A release date has yet to be announced.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is currently available for PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch.
