Fans have been eagerly awaiting the release of two major titles: part three of the remake for the legendary RPG Final Fantasy 7 and the fourth installment of Kingdom Hearts, the action RPG series that blends Final Fantasy–style storytelling with Disney characters.
Under the r/KingdomHearts subreddit, a user posted development updates of Kingdom Hearts 4, resulting in discussion in the comment section. One user stated, “The restructuring honestly is so promising,” they continued with, “They obviously had an incredible amount of development issues that plague most of their teams for over a decade. Hopefully, this will optimize their development time and release more consistently. KH3, FF15, and FF13 development cycles are all abhorrent. This was necessary and gives me hope for some awesome content.”
Alongside the Kingdom Hearts 4 discussion, Final Fantasy players also held their own conversation on the Final Fantasy 7 remake. Under the r/FFVIIRemake subreddit, a user posted, “What are you most looking forward to in Part III?” Commenters responded with, “Genuinely everything. It’s a tall task remaking FF7, but I trust them based on what they did in remake and rebirth.” Another user added, “Not gonna lie, man…. ALL OF IT. If this game is handled right and even sticks its landing, it’ll no doubt be one of the greatest games ever made. This game could end up as a new entry in Square’s lineup of masterpieces.”
During the anniversary stream of Final Fantasy 7, Tetsuya Nomura, a notable game designer for Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts, announced, “Things are moving along really smoothly, and the release timing has already been decided. We’re moving forward according to that schedule right now, so please rest assured and be patient.”
