In a surprise YouTube video, Sega and Creative Assembly announced the the next entry in their successful Total War: Warhammer series, Total War: Warhammer III.

While the developers dropped subtle hints at the game’s release through the Steam News tab, not many anticipated the newest series entry would be coming so soon.

The game’s tagline “Conquer Your Daemons” hints at an impending conflict between the mortal sentinels and the many demonic or undead presences in the Warhammer world. Creative Assembly boasts that Warhammer III will have the most diverse cast of monsters, races and heroes in all of the series.

“Our vision, from the start, was to create a series that felt like an incredible journey through this world we all loved,” said Game Director Ian Roxburgh in a press release. “The enormous support of our players in ensuring the success of the first two installments has pushed our ambition to new heights, and we can’t wait for everyone to experience it.”

The cinematic trailer has excited series fans, but Sega and Creative Assembly have not announced a release date other than 2021. The trailer also showed no gameplay hinting that a 2021 release will probably land close to third or fourth quarter.
