After her outstanding concert debut, Arianna Grande returns to Fortnite in their big Halloween event, Fortnightmares.

This year’s edition comes with the twist that Grande is now officially part of the game’s lore, and has a questline that turns her into “the galaxy’s greatest monster hunter.”

The event runs from today until November 2, and it’s centered on the evil cubes that plague Fortnite’s island since the new season began. The story event is called “The Wrath of the Cube Queen.” An Epic developer gave a brief description of what the event is and how it will affect the map and the gameplay:

“Since Fortnitemares began (and even before), the cubes have been mobilizing. Their migration towards the island’s center wasn’t just to spread corruption — they’re now at the center forming the Convergence. What is the purpose of this mysterious structure? You’ve come across the cubes and fought back the cube monsters, but a new force has joined their ranks: Caretakers are the Cube Queen’s strongest warriors yet. Tall, foreboding, shadowy apparitions, their spectral tendrils pull you directly into the sideways for a showdown on their home turf. Survive a Caretaker’s assault and you’ll walk away all the richer. Things don’t end there. The Cube Queen’s wrath has given rise to a new sideways weapon — the sinister sideways scythe — as well as returning items like witch brooms and the pumpkin rocket launcher. Use the scythe and these wicked supplies to hold your own in battle.”

This event brings back the Horde Rush mode, as well as adding new quests from several characters. Grande will arrive with a new version of her old skin called “Spacefarer Ariana Grande,” and a new questline will be introduced about hunting monsters. As per usual with every Fortnitemares event, completing quests will unlock some free goodies like gliders and pickaxes.

While the main event itself is starting now, Epic has been on the Halloween spirit for the last week or so, adding into the game Rick Grimes from The Walking Dead, Frankenstein’s monster and even a skeleton designed by street artist Kaws.
