An update for Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice was recently implemented for the title’s Xbox Series X and S version. The patch adds features such as ray tracing, chapter select and 4k resolution. The update is free for all players.

Ninja Theory, the developers of Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice, announced the patch on August 9. The full list of added features can be found on the game’s website.

“We’re proud to present an all-new update for Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice, leveraging the power of the Xbox Series S and Series X. With three graphics modes you can pick your preference of frame rate, resolution, or visual fidelity, along with upgraded materials, particles and LOD (Level of Detail),” reads a summary for the update. “We’ve also included the feature most requested by our community: chapter select! Now you can replay your favorite moments from Senua’s journey to Helheim, and make sure you track down every last lorestone.”

The three settings options are known as performance, resolution and enriched. The performance mode will feature resolution up to 1080p on Xbox Series X, along with full HD resolution and 60 FPS for Xbox Series S. Resolution mode allows for up to 4k resolution and 60 fps on Series X and up to 1440p and 30 FPS on Series S. Enriched mode features ray tracing and 30 FPS capabilities for both systems.

Xbox released a video featuring the improvements made in the update.

“An update for the PC version of Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice is currently in development. There are no plans to bring this update to any other platform at this time,” says the website’s FAQ section.

Ninja Theory also stated that this update will not interfere with the development of Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II. This is possible due to a partnership with QLOC, the company that assisted with the Nintendo Switch port of Hellblade. The anticipated sequel was first announced in December 2019 and does not have an official release date yet.
