Nintendo & Levi's Are Collaborating to Make Mario Bros.-Themed Clothing

When brands from different markets collaborate, the results are never guaranteed. When two brands with almost opposite qualities work together, the results can be fantastic. It worked with Slash and Fergie, and it really worked with Jay-Z and Lincoln Park. Not all collaborations work out well, though. Look at Xbox and Burger King when they made video games featuring ‘The King’ mascot. Burger King saw financial successes, but the games the companies released were so weird, and lack replay-ability.

The partnership between Nintendo and Levi’s is much more predictable, in terms of the products the two brands plan on releasing.

The release that’s most anticipated is co-branded overalls. Mario and Luigi have both been wearing overalls, dating back to their early 1980s debut. What separates the Mario Bros’ overalls from regular overalls, are the golden buttons seen on the two characters’ outfits.

In addition to the ‘overalls’ release, fans will most likely be anticipating the arrival of other Mario-themed gear. Levi’s doesn’t just make jeans, they also make t-shirts, shorts, jean jackets, sweatshirts, belts and so much more. There’s no reason that Levi’s would be unable to design Mario and Luigi’s hats too, since Levi’s also designs baseball caps. A Mario & Luigi-themed tote bag and fanny-pack might also be on the horizon for fans.

If we’re really, really lucky, we might be able to purchase some Luigi-themed undergarments.
