Long-time Overwatch fans were greeted with a new face for the game’s developer update videos. Where Jeff Kaplan would normally stand is now Aaron Keller who addressed fans days before Overwatch‘s five-year anniversary.
Keller announced that Blizzard will hold a live stream May 20 featuring both Overwatch developers and Overwatch League talent to show off more elements of Overwatch 2‘s PvP modes. Keller specified, of course, that what the team displays on the twentieth is still a work in progress
The timing of all this Overwatch news is quite funny for me, as I recently jumped back into the game myself. I played Overwatch excessively back when it came out in 2016, but after falling too deep into the competitive rabbit hole, I took a three-year hiatus from the game.
I found that Overwatch is much more fun when played casually and with friends. There’s no use getting sweaty and bothered over a game because soon enough that hobby will become a chore. If you are overly-focused on numbers and climbing a competitive ladder, you’ll forget why you even play in the first place.
