World of Warcraft players have more to do than wait for the upcoming expansion of The War Within. We have finally uncovered the mystery behind the secret patch. The WoW team developed this mode away from Public Test Servers to prevent it from leaking.

It worked too well, considering how little we knew previously.

A brand-new battle royale mode called Plunderstorm has been released. The secrecy now makes all the more sense. Undeniably, nothing like this has ever existed in the game in its long history. The game mode is new for WoW, and moreover, it’s a new direction for Blizzard.

Thankfully, this mode is available to any WoW subscription holder. Some things to keep in mind include a complete lack of auto-attacks and classes. Players level up by defeating environmental threats and other players. These encounters will offer plenty to plunder and earn. It’s important to stay out of the storm though, as this can shrink the entire battlefield and kill anyone on it.

Along with the patch, Blizzard announced an event. Sixty popular content creators competed on March 30 for a prize pool of $50,000.  The battle royale competitors were paired into teams and competed on one solitary day in five matches. The teams at the top of the leaderboards got a chance to win it all.

How long will this mode be available for? Fans are eager to know.
