A game where you are caught in the middle of a disaster, surrounded by celebrity holograms and creatures from the afterlife? Yes, that’s what Death Stranding is all about. An open-world game where celebrities like Conan O’Brien help you navigate an eerie environment caused by an apocalyptic catastrophe. Stranding creator Hideo Kojima is one of the world’s most admired video game designers. With worldwide fame comes perks such as friendships with celebrities who found their way into Death Stranding. This newly released game can be played on Playstation 4 and soon will be available on PC

Edgar Wright, director of Baby Driver, Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz, plays Thomas Southerland, a character who runs a distribution center. Upon completing one of the initial missions, you will come across The Wandering MC who outside of this game is late-night host Conan. Conan is one of the highest-profile cameos in the game and is the key to unlocking an important tool early on. Fashion designer Errolson Hugh, plays Alex Weatherstone, as you can see the range of celebrities chosen by Kojima fluctuate from all sorts of industries. Another character who works in the same distribution center as Thomas Southererland is Phillip North played Tommy Wirkola. Wirkola is the Norweigan director of Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters, the movie that takes a spin on the original tale of the vulnerable siblings who are deceived by a cannibal witch.

There are so many celebrity cameos in this game that you could qualify this as a Hollywood production.

By far the most important character in this game is the main character Sam Bridges played by Norman Reedus. Known for his role in The Walking Dead, Reedus takes on this entirely new role as the main character. Sam Bridges is tasked with delivering supplies to the secluded and remote cities affected by the cataclysmic disaster. These cities are known as KNOTS and once reached, Bridges is then in turn judged and assessed for his assignment. If the deliveries are completed with no drawbacks then Bridges is rewarded. This system is compared to social media ‘likes’ where you are rewarded by others. The better Bridges performs, then the more you unlock while playing Death Stranding. Reedus once again plays a part in another story about an apocalypse but unlike The Walking Dead this time there aren’t any zombies to decapitate.
