At the end of January, PlayStation aired a “State of Play” livestream showcasing the current state of gaming. Showcasing several trailers and sneak peeks of this year’s and 2025’s upcoming titles, let’s take a further look at what was shown.

Hideo Kojima’s Death Stranding sequel was confirmed in its newest trailer that it will be named Death Stranding 2: On the Beach in an almost ten-minute cinematic teaser. Revealing its new locations and characters, fans are excited for the game’s speculative release next year alongside his upcoming horror gameOD, which will have Jordan Peele writing with Kojima.

Team Ninja released a gameplay trailer for their upcoming game, Rise of the Rōnin, which is their upcoming historical action game based on the Boshin War that took place towards the end of the 19th century. Players in the game will use katana as well as musket gun combat to either fight for or against the Westernized army of the Shogunate.

There was also one last trailer reveal for Arrowhead Game Studios’ Helldivers 2 which will be released later this week on February 8. This third-person shooter will be a sequel to the 2015 critically beloved game that won the award for “Best Handheld Game” at the 19th Annual D.I.C.E. awards.

We also got more information on the upcoming Silent Hill 2 remake following a new “Combat Reveal Trailer” alongside a short free game, Silent Hill: A Short Message, being launched shortly after the showcase. Although fans had mixed reactions to A Short Message saying that it was too similar to the abandoned PT project released in 2014, excitement for a remake of the 2001 blockbuster game has bloomed across the internet.

There were also trailers revealed for other massively awaited titles such as Square Enix’s soon-to-be-released 4v4 shooter game FoamstarsDave the Diver’s DLC featuring Godzilla that’ll release in May being revealed, and many more. The full livestream has been archived on PlayStation’s official YouTube Channel.
