Silent Hills

PT was one of the biggest surprises to hit the gaming world this generation. When the game hit the PC and PS4, it became a viral sensation, with streamers reaching thousands of views for a single playthrough. After enduring shocking imagery and jump scares, millions were surprised to learn that it was a demo of an upcoming Silent Hill game from gaming icon Hideo Kojima and movie director Guillermo Del Toro. After a fallout between Konami and Kojima, the game was canceled, Konami removed PT from all digital storefronts, and Kojima left Konami after finishing work on Metal Gear Solid 5.

While Kojima made a pseudo-successor in Death Stranding, many still long to see the original version of what Silent Hill was going to be. Some still play PT, and fans even created their own games based on it. However, if you’re hoping to replay the game on PS5, we have some disappointing news to report. When a writer for GamesRadar emailed Konami to ask if PT could be downloaded on the PS5, a representative responded by saying, “the content will not be available on the PS Store, so users won’t be able to re-download the content through the backwards compatibility feature to the PS5.”

While it stinks that you won’t be able to download PT on PS5, there hasn’t been any confirmation saying you can’t play the game via an external hard drive. Here’s hoping that you’ll be able to play PT through some method.
